Frequently asked questions

Which mooring rope material should I choose?

Polypropylene floats and is economical; polyester has low stretch and good abrasion resistance; nylon stretches most and absorbs shock; UHMWPE gives the highest strength for its weight. The ship's mooring arrangement and OCIMF guidance decide the minimum breaking load.

Do the ropes come with certificates?

Every coil comes with the maker's test certificate. A class certificate can be issued for type-approved rope types if you specify the class society when ordering.

Can you splice eyes on the ropes?

Yes. Spliced eyes and mooring tails can be added; give the eye length and position in your request.
